Position Title
Ph.D. Candidate
Andrea Naranjo-Soledad is a Ph.D. Candidate in Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley in the Gadgil Lab. She holds an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from UC Berkeley and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Connecticut where, as a McNair and LSAMP Scholar, she had the opportunity to conduct research in areas involving computational atmospheric chemistry, air quality, materials science, membrane technologies, and electrochemistry. Andrea is currently working on the design of affordable technologies for the removal of Chromium in groundwater using Iron Electrocoagulation (Fe-EC) and hopes to extend these technologies for the removal of other contaminants found in groundwater. Furthermore, she is also interested in studying the effects of water chemistry and operating conditions on the Iron nanoparticles formed during Fe-EC and how these changes later affect the removal pathways of Chromium in a groundwater matrix.
