Position Title
Ph.D. Student
Eleanor Fadely (she/her) is an environmental engineering M.S.-Ph.D. student at UC Davis studying environmental quality and bioremediation. She received a bachelor’s degree in geology from Carleton College in 2018. As an undergraduate, Eleanor conducted research on biogeochemistry, hydrogeology, and environmental risk management. After college, Eleanor worked for two years as a field scientist monitoring groundwater and surface water quality at waste disposal sites in the Pacific Northwest. She came to UC Davis with a passion for exploring anthropogenic impacts on the natural landscape and strategies for contaminant mitigation. Eleanor’s current work investigates the application of biogenic manganese oxides for in situ remediation of heavy metals. The goal of this project is to characterize and optimize the environmental controls on manganese biomineralization to immobilize harmful metals at legacy contaminated sites
